If we don’t understand the differences and accept them, the smallest things can pull us apart. Therefore, we need to learn that find out the similarity is more powerful than focus on differences. In the end of the book, Salma, Lily, and all their classmates come together in the true spirit of tolerance and acceptance of differences.

Esta historia puede ayudar a los estudiantes a entender que pueden tener diferencias con otros, hasta con tus mejores amigos o familiares. Si no entendemos y aceptamos estas diferencias, las cosas mas pequenas nos pueden separar. Asi que, necesitamos encontrar similitudes que son mas fuertes que estas diferencias. Al final del libro, Salma, Lily y el resto de los estudiantes se juntan en el espiritu de tolerancia y aceptacion de los demas.

Though these differences may tear us apart, we will find similarities and they will help us to understand each other. This book will help the students create their “Book about me”. Through this project they will explore and indentify similarities that they share with some of their classmates.

Este es un libro para ninos que nos demuestra las diferencias culturales en el mundo. Les ensena que hay muchas maneras de decir y ver las cosas. Tiene un mensaje universal: creando puentes culturales beneficia a todos. Con las diferencias que nos separa, tambien encontramos similitudes que nos ayudan entender a los demas. Este libro ayudara a los estudiantes a crear su "Libro sobre Mi". Con este proyecto ayudaran a explorar e identificar las similitudes que comparten con sus companeros.

The Story of Elmer the Patchwork Elephant is suitable for students to explore the theme and issues relating to the concept of diversity and uniqueness. Elmer discovers that when he tries to change his appearance in order to "blend in" with the other elephants, they no longer recognize him, or accept him as one of their own. After Elmer's "true colors" are revealed by rain, much to the surprise and delight of his friends, they realized they preferred his multicolored and fun loving personality better. Through the story, students will understand that the other elephants loved Elmer because of his special and unique appearance.

La historia de Elmer lo usamos para que los estudiantes exploren las ideas de diversidad. Elmer descubre que cuando intenta cambiar su apariencia para ser igual a los demas elefantes, ya no lo reconocen. Despues de que los colores verdaderos de Elmer salen a la luz, sus amigos se sorprenden y le confiezan que lo prefieren con todos sus colores unicos. Con esta historia, los estudiantes comprenderan que los demas elefantes querian a Elmer por sus colores y apariencia unica.

It is a wonderful introduction to cultural variety in the world and it will spark students’ curiosity about themselves. This story will introduce the students to begin to think about their differences and how these make them unique. Students will deliver an awareness of others in their class.
Este es un libro para ninos que explora todas las personas diferentes en el mundo. Nos demuestra diferencias fisicas y culturales de variedades de personas. Es una maravillosa introduccion a la varidedad cultural en el mundo y creara una curiosidad sobre los mismos estudiantes. Esta historia nos ayudara como introduccion para que los estudiantes empiezen a pensar en sus diferencias que los hacen unicos.

This book is about eight-year-old Sangoel who comes to the United States from war-torn Sudan. Everyone mispronounces his Dinka name until he has the bright idea to make a picture of a sun and a soccer goal on his T-shirt. In our classroom, we both have some students who are new immigrants in United States, and they have their unique background and names.

Este libro es sobre un nino, Sangoel, de 8 anos que viene a vivir a Los Estados Unidos de Sudan. Todos sus companeros nuevos no sabes pronunciar su nombre, y el se ingenia una manera de ensenarles como decir su nombre basandose en fotos. En nuestro salon, tnemos bastantes immigrantes que podran tener sus propios nombres culturalmente diferentes.
